Lecture Three

This weeks lecture was about text and the variations of text and hypertexts.Don't get me wrong I find this part of Journalism to be important, I just don't find it to be AS important as the actual content of the article. And yes, having a good headline is somewhat vital in making people want to read the actual content of the article HOWEVER I believe that now a days too much thought and focus is on the setting out and the headline and all the other technicalities to heighten visual appeal and less on the actual content of the story. Also when I hear about the fact that such things as Twitter are being recognised as a form of Journalism, my heart sinks a little bit even though I realise it is an imperative collective in upholding the increasing need for immediacy in the news world.
Then again maybe it is just my stubborn way of thinking in terms of on-line news and I must finally ween myself off the teat of the trusty newspaper and diversify how I obtain my daily dose of news.

Though I do find the inverted pyramid notion to be quite logical and even useful!
I like this format as readers can leave the story at any point and understand it, even if they don't have all the details. And ah, that's all till next week? kaybaii
